  Bialystok Poland

Bialystok, Poland is one of the most interesting historical places in all of Eastern Europe. Founded in 1310, it evolved as a sleepy forest town. During the late 1700s, Bialystok was forcefully annexed by Prussia and later traded to Russia during the beginning of the 19th century. Poland recaptured the city in 1921, only to lose it to Germany in both subsequent world wars.

After the Nazis ravaged the Jewish population of Bialystok and drove out many other inhabitants, the Soviet Union reclaimed the land. For literally hundreds of years, this important and tragic parcel of land was traded among nations and enslaved. Yet the city has emerged from its past strong and hopeful. Bialystok isn't simply a tribute to the hardships of the past--it's an expanding metropolis--conscious of its tough history but exuberant about future prospects.

We at Poland And Beyond invite you to tour Bialystok and other historic and awe-inspiring locations in Poland. We offer a number of exciting tours for every budget--from two week comprehensive tours of eastern Poland to quick immersive tours, like our seven-day Gems of Northern Poland trip. The Polish renaissance of the late 1990s helped inspire millions across Eastern Europe to reach out to their Western counterparts.
