International preservationists are fascinated with Poland's major castles and palaces--like Malbork Castle in Malbork and Wawel Castle in Krakow--both of which are UNESCO world heritage sites. Through Poland and Beyond, a premier travel guide service with years of experience and a terrific reputation, you can now discover the wealth and beauty of Poland's hidden architectural treasures. We offer a very popular guided tour--the Castles and Palaces package--which lasts eleven days and takes our clients through over a dozen cities and towns in the country. On this tour, you visit magnificent well-known fortresses as well as out of the way but still very much fascinating palaces. You can peruse our itinerary for more detailed descriptions of start dates, prices, and destinations. Near the storied city of Czestochowa, we will visit Olysztyn and marvel at the gorgeous Knights Castle in Pieskowa Skala. We also head to the Jasna Gora Monastery. Although the Jasna Gora Monastery is technically a place of worship, it is architecturally arranged in much the same way as many of Poland's castles. Every year, millions of visitors make their way to the Jasna Gora Monastery to pay homage to the famous Black Madonna painting. Although many of Poland's more famous palaces were destroyed or damaged during World War II--the Malbork Castle in Malbork, for instance--modern restoration attempts have proven very successful. When you visit these palaces, you can't escape the feeling that you're part of a living history. Part of what makes visiting Poland so exciting is that the country is in a real rebuilding period.
